Southington
Southington is a town Southington is a town in Hartford County, Connecticut, United States. It includes the areas of Plantsville, Marion and Milldale, each of which has its own post-office and distinct architecture. The town rests in a valley of two mountains on its east and west sides. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 43, 069. Southington has the nickname of “The Apple Valley”, due to the many orchards that are still enjoyed by local citizens and tourists.
Southington Historical Society
The Southington Historical Society is an all-volunteer, membership based, non-profit organization founded to preserve the history of Southington and the surrounding area.
Located in the Southington Historical Center at 239 Main Street, the society also has stewardship for 2 historic schoolhouses in town: the historic South End Schoolhouse and the West Street Schoolhouse.
The Historical Society regularly features exhibits, lectures, programs and fundraisers throughout the year.
