Herstory Theater’s first program, which had its debut in October, 2011, was “Panic in Connecticut; Accused Witches Have Their Say”, a one woman show about the little known witchcraft panics in 17th century Connecticut.  The show brings to life the stories of five women accused of being witches in Connecticut from 1652- 1692. 

The public is invited to attend.  This event is recommended for ages 13+

Anthony (Tony) Bosse has been a glass collector for 38 years.  He and his wife Linda  have been active members of the Nutmeg Depression Glass Club if Connecticut (NDGCC) since 1976.

Dr. Douglas Owsley, Head of Physical Anthropology at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C., will give a free lecture entitled A Skeleton’s Story from Jamestown’s Starving Time on Thursday May 1st at 6:30 p.m.

Former U.S. Rep. Nancy L. Johnson, who served the 6th District for 20 years, will discuss her lengthy political career and recall former U.S. Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, William Clinton and George W. Bush in an informal program and lecture Sunday, April 27th 1 p.m., at the Southington Historical Center, 239 Main St.  The public is invited to attend.

Past Event – Thursday March 13th, 7pm – Dr. Ira Spar  – Civil War Veterans Health Care

Dr. Ira Spar

 

Dr. Spar will discuss the state of health care for the soldiers returning from the Civil War – and how this led to a nationwide hospital system  and a single payer healthcare system. This is also the subject of his new book:  “New Haven’s Civil War Hospital: A History of Knight U.S. General Hospital, 1862-1865”  The public is invited to attend.
